Meet Polish by Pinky
Founded in October 2012, Polish by Pinky (PBP) is a nail salon offering artificial enhancements, manicures, pedicures, makeup, and courses for aspiring professionals.
In November 2020, PBP launched "PinkySwear," a product line featuring quality gel polishes and nail supplies for professionals, later expanding to include natural skincare products. Owner Reneasha Black was inspired by young nail techs seeking affordable, accessible products, leading her to create her own line.
The name "Polish by Pinky" and the product line "PinkySwear" were chosen for their uniqueness and memorability, with the latter coming to Reneasha after brainstorming and consulting with a friend.
Balancing the business with being a new mom, Reneasha manages a full schedule and strives to minimize phone distractions. Her journey began in 2009 when her dad paid for a nail technology course. PBP became a registered business in 2012, evolving from a side income during her financial management studies into a full-time endeavor.
Reneasha’s major milestone includes attending the Ugly Duckling 5K Marathon of learning in Canada, earning her most valued certificate among 13 to date. Her advice for entrepreneurs is to be unique, both in name and service, and to expect support from unexpected places.
